Hi all. Im back after a brief but very frustrating problem. My hard drive bit the dust. Due to stupidity, I had no backup and lost EVERYTHING. Anyway, after installing a new 160gig HD (and while I was at it, a new Extacy Raedon graphics card), I'm back up and running...re-installing everything piece by piece. . Ok...I've bored you all enough. My question is, Before when I downloaded WB skins, they would automatically install into my WB directory, now they dont. How can I get that function back?

Hey crissy - Are you downloading them to a temp folder using IE and then double-clicking them?
on Jul 08, 2004
yes yrag. That is what I'm doing. seems to be the only option. But befor, all I had to do was click on "download" and it automatically downloaded into the WB dir. It was so convenient.

Maybe it's my memory, but I only remember if you did it in SDC or WC browsers, it would go to the 'Download' folder when you clicked just download. If you click 'Download and apply' it will do that. As far as IE is concerned, yours is working correctly.

I'm using mozilla and slimbrowser, wbload automatically downloads into windowblinds, opens a windowblind icon in my system tray and opens a small window telling me a new blind is installed and to click it if I want to change blinds.
I never use WC or SDC to download

I just used IE and downlaoded PURO by mike....hit download and wb loaded it into windowblinds and the same tooltip opened asking if I wanted to install it. I have done a format and fresh install of XP too. SO you are missing that option. Cant think of any setting though that allows it. I have the paid version. Its a super convient addition
Well I'm not much help except tot tell you that you should be able to automatically install to windowblinds with IE

Internet Options/Advanced/Enable Install On Demand?

No! Dont use that. It lets IE install language packs and stuff too, and who knows what else.

Ya! I'd be a little leary bout that too!
I have a feeling the answer lies in one Of WB settings, but I can't find which one. It really was convenient when skins would automatically DL into the WB folder and, as others have stated, the WB icon in the system tray would then "chirp" alerting me of a new skin that installed. Thanks for the help everyone. Ill let you know if I figure it out.

I've never had a problem with it. It always asks before it installs anything.

I've noticed instances where Skin Studio would take over the associations for windowblinds. I would try uninstalling Skin Studio and Windowblinds. Erase the folders, then install Skin Studio first, and then windowblinds. This way windowblinds will grab back the associations. I actually had that problem and this is how I resolved it.

Have you had any luck crissy14 ?...

Well folks, my problem is solved. The WB skins download and install automatically with one click on "download" just like they used to. Ahhhhhh! Not sure what caused this change, I actually had put this little inconvenience aside to work on reinstalling stuff on my computer. The only thing I can think of that might have madea differnce is that I installed service pack1, which I foolishly hadn't done until last night. Thanks everyone for all your help.
